RUSSET NOON: THE NEW TWILIGHT OR A WHOLE OTHER WORLD?

Bella had Edward, and now they could love each other forever because of their immortality. And poor Jacob ‘imprinted’ on the child of the girl he once (as said in Breaking Dawn) loved, Bella. Everything was just perfect and everyone was happy. Everyone but us, Team Jacob Fans. Read full article.

THE RUSSET NOON SCANDAL

Everything seemed to indicate that Breaking Dawn would be the last book in the Saga until a scandal took the Twilight Universe by storm this past March of 2009. According to the music community website Buzznet.com, a new volume in the series was slated to hit bookstores back in September 2009. The book’s title was Russet Noon, and it would be told from Jacob’s POV.

The Buzznet article went on to state that ”Russet Noon” wasn’t written by Stephenie Meyer. Instead, “self-proclaimed ‘gothic webmistress’ LadySybilla” was trying to fill the void left behind by Meyer after the publication of Midnight Sun was postponed “indefinitely.”

Following the release of the Buzznet article, a whole slew of links related to Russet Noon started showing up on Google searches. A vast majority of these links pointed to both pro-Twilight and anti-Twilight forums, as well as blogs worldwide, with the strongest impact of the scandal taking place in the United States, Spain, Brazil and Mexico.

There was much speculation as to whether or not Twilight author Stephenie Meyer would take legal action against Lady Sybilla and her publisher AV Paranormal, but hard evidence of the rumored lawsuit has yet to surface. As of January 2010, the paperback version of Russet Noon is not available for sale online or in bookstores, but the official website continues to thrive, while the anti-Russet Noon movement appears to have gone quiet. Only four chapters have been published on the website so far, and there’s mention of a fifth said to come out this Valentine’s Day.

Probably the most comprehensive history of the Russet Noon scandal has been recorded by the folks at Fanhistory.com, where they feature an extensive list of links organized by date.  However, no recent updates are currently available, as the article focuses heavily on the anti-Russet Noon movement, rather than on an objective coverage of the events as they’re still continuing to unfold.

JACOB BLACK’S ROLE IN RUSSET NOON

Jacob is the narrator of the novel, and, according to official statements released by AV Paranormal Publishing, he will be the hero who saves the day and gets the girl at the end of the story. The girl, in this case, happens to be Bella and not Renesmee, as it is stated in an article on Fanpop.com.

RUSSET NOON TODAY

Although a couple of fame-hungry, has-been authors, such as Peter David and Lee Goldberg, have come to Stephenie Meyer’s rescue, so to speak, the bestselling author has simply refused to acknowledge them as well. Evidently, Ms. Meyer is no damsel in distress and appears to be in no need of rescuing, especially when this “rescuing” is so blantantly self-serving as it seems to be the case with the above named D-listers.

As of today, countless attempts have been made to stifle the Russet Noon project. Everything from online stalking to entire pages full of hostile comments and mockery, including even YouTube videos, constitute the “holy” anti-Russet Noon crusade. Yet, despite the enormous amount of time and energy spent on boycotting the publication of Russet Noon, the little novel that could is still thriving thanks to worldwide readers who couldn’t care less about the accusations.

In essence, the greatest irony about the Russet Noon scandal is that the people who should genuinely be concerned, namely Stephenie Meyer herself, her publisher Little, Brown, and the big bosses over at Summit, haven’t moved a single finger to ban its publication. Could it be that the scandal might be resulting in more buzz and revenue for the copyright owners? And, for all intents and purposes, isn’t that all they care about in the end?

Just want to say that the author of Russet Noon is a complete douche and will be sued not only Ms Meyers but also Paramount Pictures. I’m so ignorant because I can’t even tell the difference between Summit and Paramount.

LADY SYBILLA is a Complete DOUCHE BAG. I’m so jealous of her! I wish I could stir up buzz like she does, but since I can’t, then all I can do is hate on her. What does she have that I don’t???
